Government of the Pakistan, Establishment Division has issued Notification No. No.S/24/2016-E-2 (pt) dated 05-08-2016 in connection with Notification 100% Pension in Death during Service Cases.
Notification 100% Pension in Death during Service Cases
According to this Notification, the undersigned is directed to refer to the subject cited above and it is state that the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package was revised by the Federal Government as notified by the Establishment Division vide O.M No.8/10/2013-E-2 (PI) dated 4th December 2015. After revision of Assistance Package, number of references: have been received from different Ministries/Divisions/Departments including AGPR, Islamabad seeking clarifications on 100% Pension to families of deceased Government Servants.
The issue was taken up with Finance Division. That Division has clarified that as policy of the Federal Government the Government servants who die while in service. 25% of the gross pension will be allowed as gratuity and rest 75% as family pension. The above benefits will be equal to full pension.
All Ministries/Divisions are requested to ensure implementation of the policy clarifications referred to above in letter and spirit. It may also be ensured to circulate the above clarifications to all the departments/sub-ordinate offices under their administrative control.
Attached is a copy of Establishment Division memo which clarifies that in cases of death during service, family will be entitled to 100% Gross Pension, as under :-
25% commuted against gratuity equal to number of years’ purchase; and 75% Net Pension per month.
The widow / family has the option of getting another 10 % of Gross Pension also commuted, as the maximum limit for commutation is 35%.

My father was employee of Punjab Govt. He died in 2001 while in service, We received commutation of 12 years. However, after completion of 12 years we applied for restoration. Our application was not accepted nor rejected. I visited concerned DAO. They told restoration is not applicable for family pension cases. After that i asked from someone who is working in AG office Lahore. He also replied the same. So, If you have some precedent you are requested to share.
