Government of Pakistan, Cabinet Secretariat, Establishment Division has issued Notification on 29-12-2016 in connection with Eligibility of Superintendents to Participate in Section Officers Promotional Exams. Detail is as under:

                The undersigned is directed to refer to the subject cited above and to say that a query has been received in this Division about eligibility of Superintendents (BPS-17) for section officers promotional examination (SOPE).

                It is clarified that grant of BPS-17 to Superintendents is not a promotion within the meaning of Section-9 of the Civil Servants Act,1973, therefore, all practical purposes, the Superintendents granted / placed in BPS-17 are the substantive holders of the post in BPS-16 and are eligible for taking SOPE subject to completion of all other conditions / codal formalities.
