Government of the Punjab, School Education Department has issued a Notification on 22-03-2022 in connection with Instructions Regarding Time Table for Teaching Holy Quran in Schools.
Instructions Regarding Time Table for Teaching Holy Quran in Educational Institutions/Schools
I am directed to refer to the subject noted above and to state that teaching of the Holy Quran has been declared as a compulsory subject in the school syllabus. Punjab and Private Schools in Punjab are teaching the Holy Quran. However, there are instances that said subject is not being reflected in the timetable by some schools, especially in the private sector.
2 Therefore, you are directed to ensure that all public and Private Schools not only teach the Holy Quran as a compulsory subject but their school timetable also duty reflect a period for teaching the Holy Quran. Schools not implementing the instructions should be proceeded against under relevant law.
Before this, QAED has issued the announcement of application for Master Trainers (MTs) for Teaching of Translation of Holy Quran in Schools. It is a good step for the Government of Punjab. The government now should appoint Quran Teachers in the schools. Because without teachers this program will badly affect. If the Government appoints teachers, the number of teachers may go to thousands.
