The government of Gilgit Baltistan has issued a letter to the Finance Division in connection with demands for funds for a Grant of 15% DRA 2022 to BPS-01 to BPS-19 Employees of GB. The details are as under:
15% DRA 2022 to BPS-01 to BPS-19 Employees of GB
I am directed to refer to the subject cited above and to say that the federal government has granted Disparity Reduction Allowance-2022 @ 15% of the basic pay of Revised Pay scales 2017 w.e.f. 1st March 2022 to the civil employees in BS 1-19. Federal Government also advised that the provincial government may consider the allowance for their employees from their own resources (copy enclosed.).
In this connection, it is submitted that Gilgit-Baltistan Government is being granted Grant-in-Aid annually. That hardly covers the actual requirements of the GB Government under ERE and the operating expenses of the departments. Even though, the matter Ws PLAvced before GB Cabinet in its 17th meeting for appropriate decision. The GB Cabinet discussed the matter in light of the available budgetary space. The cabinet directs to take up the matter with the federal finance division, Islamabad to seek budget provision to consider the case. An amount of Rs. 1.8 billion they assessed against the proposed allowance. It is not possible to adjust the anticipated expenditure against the allowance within the sanctioned Grant-in-Aid during the current financial year.
The demand for Supplementary Grant
In view of the above, GB Government requests to release a supplementary grant amounting to Rs. 1.8 million. In this way, they can resolve cases of 15% DRA in letter and spirit of the Federal government directives, please.
