Government of the Punjab, Services & General Administration Department has sent a letter on 30-06-2022 in connection with Request for Consideration of MA Education Qualification for Promotion. The details are as under:

Reference your letter No.SO(PROMOTION-II)6-5/2022(M&F) dated 08.05.2022 on the subject noted above.

The Regulations Wing, S&GAD has examined the matter and it is observed that M.A. (education) covers more than the requirement of M.Ed. and the said degree is considered an Academic as well as Professional degree, however, its reflection in the relevant service rules through amendment as a prescribed requirement for promotion is necessary. The appointment by promotion is to be made in the prescribed manner and the manner is to be reflected clearly in the relevant service rules. Hence, the administrative Department may amend the service rules in the first instance before making promotions in respect of the BS-18 posts.
