Board of Revenue, Government of Punjab issued a Notification on 14-10-2022 in connection with the Addition of Two More Districts in Rawalpindi Division of Punjab province. The details are as under:
Addition of Two More Districts in Rawalpindi Division
In exercise of the Powers conferred upon him under Section 5 of the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967 (West Pakistan Act XVII of 1967) and in supersession of all previous Notifications on this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to divide the Provision into Divisions as per details appearing in the schedule given below with immediate effect.

After the addition of these two districts Murree and Talagang, now the Rawalpindi Division has a total of 6 districts. Earlier there was a total of four districts in Rawalpindi District (Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal). Before this, these two new districts acted as Tehsils.
