Upgradation Primary School Teachers from BPS-12 to BPS-14 and SST BPS-16 to 17

Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Finance Department issued a Notification on 27-03-2023 in connection with Upgradation Primary School Teachers from BPS-12 to BPS-14 and SST BPS-16 to BPS-17. The details are as under:

 

 Upgradation Primary School Teachers (PST) and Secondary School Teachers KPK

 

Education is first priority of the KPK government. To improve the education system in KPK the government announces major scale upgradation for SSTs from BPS-16 to BPS-17. The directorate of the secondary and elementary school wing approves the upgradation of school education department staff. The up gradation of Primary school teachers and Secondary school teachers is an appreciable step of the KPK government. The secretary of the government of KPK received a letter regarding the upgradation of Primary School Teachers and Secondary School Teachers. This promotion surely raises the standard of education in KPK. This step is also to the benefit of teachers.

Education is a constantly-evolving field. In order to ensure its continued growth, it is important that teachers also evolve alongside it. Thus, the government should upgrade teaching staff or the teaching community must make pursues the path towards continuous learning and growth. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government upgraded a large number of school teachers under the 2012 school teachers’ promotion policy. Every teaching cadre has its own requirements and competencies. Only on the basis of seniority and academic qualifications promotion is not good but cadre-to-cadre promotion should be competition-based. And there should be written tests and interviews for selecting candidates for promotion.

Effects of Up-Gradation Of Pots PSTs And SSTs

 

The Finance department says that the upgradation of Primary school teachers and secondary school teachers affects them financially. It can cause an alarming position for the Provincial exchequer as huge financial implications are involved. Section officer Niamat Khan requested guidance as to. reconsider the up-gradation of primary school teachers and secondary school teachers. He says if reconsideration is not possible then the summary about the promotion should be forwarded to the honorable chief minister of KPK.
