Government of Pakistan cabinet secretariat cabinet division issued a circular regarding public and optional holidays for the year 2024.
The circular includes all public and optional holidays. The holidays regarding festivals of Muslims and other minority communities in Pakistan for the calendar year 2024.

Grant of Optional Holidays
In the case of Muslim festivals, the date of holidays is based upon the anticipated dates. The subject of the appearance of the moon for a separate notification is considered to issue from the cabinet division.
Number of Permitted Optional Holidays
Government servants desiring to avail themselves of optional holidays shall take prior permission from the head office concerned department. No government servants shall be granted more than 01 optional holiday in the case of Muslims and 03 optional holidays for non-Muslim employees.
Conditions to Grant Optional Holidays
The grant of this concession should not result in any dislocation of work. For Muslim employees, the optional holidays are the specific number of people permitted to avail of optional holidays. That should be regulated in a manner so that adequate staff is available for the proper continuance of the work.
