Government of the Punjab, School Education Department issued a Notification on 06-11-2024 in connection with Holidays in Punjab Govt and Private Schools Colleges wef 7th Nov 2024 (4 Divisions). Due to the prevailing smog situation, the Punjab Government decided to close Government and Private Schools.

As per the Notification, the weather conditions in several districts of Punjab are very bad. These weather conditions may affect the health conditions of school-going children. Considering the fog/smog condition in Punjab, the School Education Department Punjab announced holidays/closing of schools in four divisions.

Contents of the Notification of Closing Educational Institutions in Punjab Due to Smog
In continuation of this department’s notification dated 03.11.2024, due to the deteriorating Air Quality Index (AQI) and in light of an order dated 06.11.2024, issued by the Director General Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Punjab, while exercising powers conferred under section 6(1)(t) of the Punjab Environmental Protection Act, 1997, it is hereby notified that all educational institutions (public/private), including private tuition centers upto Higher Secondary Level (12th Grade) shall remain closed w.e.f. 07th November 2024 (Thursday) will be 17th November 2024 (Sunday) and will shift to online mode in the Territorial jurisdiction of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan Divisions. This order shall be enforceable in districts of Lahore, Shiekhupura, Kasur, Nanakana Sahib, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahaudin, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, and Khanewal.
Chief Executive Officers (DEA) concerned are directed to ensure complaint of the orders.
