Government of the Punjab School Education Department issued a Notification on 04-11-2024 in connection with a Second-time Maternity Leave (On Full Pay) to the Female Educators / AEOs (Assistant Education Officers) of SED Punjab. Now, these employees of SED Punjab can get 2nd-time maternity leave on the birth of their child in their service as educators / AEOs. They will have to deduct no salary but get full pay. The details are as follows:
Second Time Maternity Leave (On Full Pay) to the Female Educators / AEOs
Kindly refer to the subject noted above and state that female Educators/AEOs who the Govt appointed on a contract basis for a period of five years are allowed a maximum of 90 days maternity leave with pay only in a five-year tenure as per terms and conditions No.5(II) of their contract appointment. It has been observed that the contract appointments of female educators/AEOs who have been working on a contract basis for more than 05 years have been extended from time to time. The Competent Authority is not considering their request for a grant of another maternity leave, and they are facing hardships.
I am, therefore, directed to convey that the Competent Authority has been pleased to clarify that the female Educator/AEOs who have completed 5 gears tenure and their contract appointment and when the Competent Authority has extended their contract for another period are entitled to another (second time) maternity leave for 90 days with full pay in the second tenure of their contract period.

It is clear from the above notification that the Educators and AEOs females can get 2nd-time maternity leave with full pay. However, they will get 2nd maternity leave after five years of service and have an extension for another period. You will also be eligible for 90 days of maternity leave during the second time. This is a good decision of the SED Punjab. Female Educators and AEOs will benefit from this new leave policy.
